AGAINST THE ODDS - EPISODE 12: UNLIKELY TURN OF EVENTS

Mawufemor raised his head to see the adorable Elorm Amenuveve standing at the cell railings.

"What do you want?" he stuttered.

"Didn't I tell you I always get what I want? And nobody can say no to me?" Elorm boasted.

        Mawufemor remained silent.

"My deal is still valid now," she hissed.

"I want you," she whispered fairly solemnly.

Mawufemor just gave her a cynical look and crawled two steps back.

"Mom and Dad are dead set on filing charges. They want you imprisoned, my love. We can stop this."

Mawufemor kept his mouth shut. He was done with the conversation. He didn't have the energy to deal with the lovely devil's cunning. Feeling defeated and ignored, she threatened:

"You'll perish in prison, you fool! Believe me, if I can't have you, no other woman will!" she yelled in a safe tone as she stormed out of the station wriggling her posterior in a manner the gods would even find hard to resist.

Mawufemor shook his head and reclined against the wall while he pondered. His recollection brought him back to the point where he had left off, lying in a pool of blood.

Scorpion and the rest of the gang fled after realizing that their little friend had died.

The following day, construction workers discovered Mawufemor's lifeless body lying in a pool of blood with a smashed head. They notified the site supervisor, who immediately phoned the police, who went to the scene to prepare Mawufemor's body for transport to the mortuary.

When they arrived at the morgue, Constable Attipoe believed he had observed movement in the body bag containing Mawufemor's body. Others stated that it was too early in the morning for such antics and that it was also too early to have seen the bottle. He persisted, however.

The boy was still lying in the bag when it was opened, but his position had changed from when he was placed in the bag. Officer Attipoe was right. The morgue personnel requested that the youngster be rushed to the hospital's emergency department.

The physicians declared him to be in a coma after two hours of testing and observations. The police made the required preparations to locate the child's parents or relatives. However, after three weeks of announcements and searches, no one had come forward to claim the youngster, and no clues had been discovered.

Officer Attipoe displayed a peculiar bond to the child who had been in a coma for the preceding three weeks. He sensed a connection with the youngster that could only be explained spiritually. He visited the hospital every day. Concerned about the circumstances of the child, he notified his wife about it. His wife, a devoutly religious woman, prayed daily for the Almighty to intervene in the predicament of the mysterious youngster.

After 12 years of marriage, the Attipoes felt it was God's way of bringing a child into their lives since they were still waiting for the blessing of procreation. They had considered the prospect of adopting the boy if no one came forward to claim him when he regained consciousness. Both the hospital administration and the police at the Tesano Police Station, where Constable Attipoe was stationed, supported this action. During the short weeks following the occurrence, his devotion to the well-being of the mystery youngster was unprecedented.

In the meantime, Betty recovered consciousness and was receiving treatment at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in the heart of Accra. She recounted the incident to the police, who had been searching for the four scumbags. Most crucially, she revealed how her small friend Mawufemor had betrayed her.

AGAINST THE ODDS: EPISODE 7 – A FAMILIAR PLACE

“Elorm! Elorm!! What is happening to you?" The voice resonated loudly.       By this time, both youngsters had recognized the voice of the mystery individual behind the door; it was the Reverend Amenuveve, and they realized they were in serious trouble. Nonetheless, Elorm instinctively raced to open the door. Her father dashed in, nearly collapsing owing to an apparent quick spike in his blood sugar level and blood pressure brought on by the sight before him.       In their haste, shock, and fear, both youths had forgotten to dress up. What Reverend Amenuveve witnessed may have easily led the elderly man to his grave.  “Whaaat!!! What is happening, Elorm?" His voice shook as he screamed.  Elorm, anticipating danger, chose to assume the role of the victim.       “Daaaddiiiii! Daaaaaaddiiii", she cried frantically. AGAINST ALL ODDS - Episode 1: The Exam

Mawufemor ran the whole two kilometres from the main market in Ho to the E.P. University College Examination Centre, where he was supposed to write an Organizational Behaviour paper. While entering the exam room, he was panting and sweating tremendously. He was also 40 minutes late, as usual. “I’m sorry; you cannot enter!” The invigilator said calmly. “B-b-but I am s-s-sti-still within the-the-the t-time!” Mawufemor stuttered! The invigilator smiled. As an offer of assistance, she suggested that he double-check his watch. Once again, Mawufemor ran back to the corridor where he'd left his phone and grabbed it. “Please! You are correct! I'm late! But please forgive me. Last night, I was robbed!" He stammered again as he tried to explain himself. "When you students want to tell lies, you start stammering...", the invigilator mocked before allowing Mawufemor to enter the exam hall.      Mawufemor ignored her and rushed to his seat, almost in tears by this ...
