AGAINST THE ODDS: EPISODE 7 – A FAMILIAR PLACE

“Elorm! Elorm!! What is happening to you?" The voice resonated loudly.

By this time, both youngsters had recognized the voice of the mystery individual behind the door; it was the Reverend Amenuveve, and they realized they were in serious trouble. Nonetheless, Elorm instinctively raced to open the door. Her father dashed in, nearly collapsing owing to an apparent quick spike in his blood sugar level and blood pressure brought on by the sight before him.

In their haste, shock, and fear, both youths had forgotten to dress up. What Reverend Amenuveve witnessed may have easily led the elderly man to his grave.

“Whaaat!!! What is happening, Elorm?" His voice shook as he screamed.

Elorm, anticipating danger, chose to assume the role of the victim.

“Daaaddiiiii! Daaaaaaddiiii", she cried frantically. "He attempted to rape me, and I fought back!" She managed to say while clutching her father with her naked body.

Her father, an amateur boxer before entering the ministry, pushed her to the ground and attacked Mawufemor. He struck his jaw with a punch. Blood gushed from his mouth and nostrils as Mawufemor fell to the ground.

"I will kill you today. My daughter is my pride and joy. If anyone harms her, I will kill them!” The reverend fumed!

“Pl-ea-se Daddy! I am in-no-centttt!” the young man pleaded from the floor.

“Liar!”, the pastor retorted, “Liar! And don’t you ever call me daddy again! Ever!”

Rev. Mrs Amenuveve then burst into the room.

Yesu! Awoooooo! Meku looo!” she exclaimed in bewilderment at the scene.

"We allowed a criminal into our home!" exclaimed the father.

"Yes, I knew it from the moment I first saw him," Elorm said as he stoked the fire.

"Elorm, did he enter you?" Mother inquired.

"Had father not entered, he would have!"

"Oh, we give Thanks! Our God is merciful! This time, this young scoundrel will rot in prison!"

"And Mommy, every time I pass him, he makes sexually provocative remarks!"

This brought a frown to the father's face. “Tell me! Remarks such as?"

"Dad, he says my hips and backside are attractive and he would love to have them!"

"Oh, sweet Jesus! Please forgive me in advance, for I shall kill this guy myself!" The reverend remarked while repeatedly slapping Mawufemor in the face.

"Just wait until the police arrive. This time, there will be no one to come to your rescue! Foolish boy! Ungrateful brat!"

Within twenty minutes, police officers arrived at the residence to take Mawufemor— back to the station.

"Eiii young man!" The Chief Officer exclaimed in shock. "So you are back!"

“Ridii di33, 3wan enjoy ein waist inside small. The guy suffer ts33!” Constable Instsiful made a snide remark in Ghanaian Pidgin English.

“Hahahaha! Adwaman mu kingkong!”, a sergeant went along the same line, literally denoting the king of adulterers!

Devi gbegblen! Eva le ekpe kporm!”, another officer made a sarcastic remark in a blend of Ewe dialects.

"Constables!" shouted the Officer in Charge. "Give this hardened criminal an appropriate welcome. He deserves it!"

“Make sure he bleeds from his nose and mouth!” The Reverend fumed!

"No worries reverend!" One of the officers stated. “By the time we are finished abusing him, he will wish he had passed away in that hospital!”

"Very well!" The enraged preacher said, "I will be leaving!"

"I swear to God daddy, I am innocent!" Mawufemor pleaded as he was led away to an obvious fate as if he were a sheep being led to the slaughter.

That night, Mawufemor slept on the cold, dark floor of the cell. His entire body itched and ached. His lower lip had ballooned to more than three times its normal size, and his upper lip was in a fierce race to surpass it. His manhood and balls were on fire; the constables had kicked him multiple times in the groin while pounding his frail phallus with the butt of their rifles. His testicles appeared to have moved inside his stomach as he vomited blood and water onto the floor.

In the stillness of the night, he reflected on past events—where it all began.

CREATING ONLINE QUESTIONNAIRES USING GOOGLE FORMS

Introduction Google forms can be used for a variety of purposes. In a recent blog, I demonstrated how to utilize Google Forms to create simple survey questions. In this article, I'll show you how to utilize Google Forms to create and distribute research questionnaires. The post would also go on to demonstrate how to export the data into Microsoft Excel.  Getting Started To get started, you must first develop and finalize your questionnaire. It is not a good idea to write your questions directly into Google Forms—it increases error.           This tutorial would make use of a PC. It is preferable to perform such exercises on a computer rather than a phone.  1. Go to www.forms.google.com  Your interface should look like this.    2. As seen above, click "start new form." This should take you to the following page:    3. Click on one of the "untitled forms" placeholders, clear the text, and type or copy and paste ...

AGAINST THE ODDS - EPISODE 14: STEELY-EYED ENDURANCE

Mawufemor worked hard at his job as a truck-pusher in the market, and at his studies later in the evening and throughout the night too. He experienced several challenges in Mathematics and Science; they appeared somewhat abstract to him. But Mr Mensah spurred him on.  "Look here, young man," Mr Mensah would say. "I read a story of three young men in the 1970s who were truck-pushers much like you. They received home tuition, took the O-Level and A-Level exams, and passed."  “I believe you can also make it. You may repeat that story!”            Mawufemor believed him, but it was always a matter of the spirit willing but the flesh weak. To make matters worse, the market boys made it a point to constantly mock him.  "When are you going to start school, Professor?" One would mock.  "Professors go to school!" exclaimed another. "They don't sit at home reading foolish books that an old man gave them...

AGAINST ALL ODDS - Episode 1: The Exam

Mawufemor ran the whole two kilometres from the main market in Ho to the E.P. University College Examination Centre, where he was supposed to write an Organizational Behaviour paper. While entering the exam room, he was panting and sweating tremendously. He was also 40 minutes late, as usual. “I’m sorry; you cannot enter!” The invigilator said calmly. “B-b-but I am s-s-sti-still within the-the-the t-time!” Mawufemor stuttered! The invigilator smiled. As an offer of assistance, she suggested that he double-check his watch. Once again, Mawufemor ran back to the corridor where he'd left his phone and grabbed it. “Please! You are correct! I'm late! But please forgive me. Last night, I was robbed!" He stammered again as he tried to explain himself. "When you students want to tell lies, you start stammering...", the invigilator mocked before allowing Mawufemor to enter the exam hall.      Mawufemor ignored her and rushed to his seat, almost in tears by this ...
